1. When and how did you first become interested in music?
my mom says i started to sing and dance around since i was a little baby.

2. How long have you been playing music?
but the actual learning of music and how to sing came about when i was about 9 years old, so about 11 years.

3. Who are your musical influences?
my musical influences are for most my teacher chitra sultana, she is just amazing, and i don’t even think she knows how much she has taught me and helped me in music, not to mention she is an extremely talented artist herself. She literally was behind me since day one. and then of course her daughter nawrin, who is not only like my role model but also someone who i learn a lot from.

4. Does anyone in your family play music?
Surprisingly i am the only one in my family who actually sings . my mom says my nani was a great singer and from a musical family, so maybe that’s where i inherited it from.

5. What else do you do besides play music?
besides music, i go to school, help my mom out at her clothing boutique, and like to hangout with my buddies.

6. What kind of song do you like to play
personally the kind of music i enjoy the most and like to perform to are old songs (40s-90s) all kinds by all the great legendary singers, what can i say, i guess old is indeed gold to me.

7. What do you think about those songs?
these songs to me are so beautiful in every way. they are just simply so genuine. every song has a story behind it, with true and meaningful lyrics. u can hear the effort and heart the artists put into their music. and every time i listen to them, it seems different each time.

8. What does it take to play a song like that?
in my opinion to perform a song like that it takes a lot of dedication, hard work and respect to the artist who sang it. also u must have a passion for it.

9. What is special about that song?
to me what makes each song special is the story behind the song, the message it is sending out to its audience, how it uses beautiful words and melodies to compose a message through a song.

10. Why did you choose to play this kind of music?
old songs are the kinds of songs i would choose any day because i feel it is what appeals to me most. i feel it is true music in a sense.

11. Are there different kind of music you play?
yes of course i perform other kinds of songs too, the modern ones, that are popular today, or in demand, they are enjoyable and definitely lots of fun!

12. What is your music goal
my music goal is too just continue my singing as long as i can and learn as much as i can about music.

13. Are you working on any albums at the moment?
No

14. your memorable performance?
my most memorable performance definitely has to be one of my very early performances when i was just 12 or 13. i was invited to Trinidad to perform at an Diwali event, little did i know that it was a huge huge event with about 10,000 people, i was so scared and nervous, the stage was huge, there were so much lights and cameras and people! but it was my first experience in such a environment and i look back now and say wow. it was really amazing i will never forget it.

15. who inspire you?
people. people inspire me the most. the fact that one song i sing can make someone smile, or make someone dance, or make someone reminiscent about their younger years makes me want to keep on singing for them. the appreciation i get from my audience is truly my main source of inspiration.
